About

I am currently studying a Bsc honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bath, I believe I am a practical, hard working and reliable individual, I have determination, enthusiasm and I am also a quick learner. Being responsible, honest, pro-active and caring are also very important to me. I am seeking a part-time position with the opportunity to train and develop further. I believe that one of my main attributes is that I can be “thrown into the deep end” and perform under high levels of pressure to a very high standard in any area as I am naturally a fast paced worker with the ability to problem solve and analyse situations to achieve the best possible results. My passion in life is to help motivate people to reach their full potential, practically and academically. EMPLOYMENT/WORK EXPERIENCE

LIFEGUARD
Part-time lifeguard September 22nd 08- August 9th 10
Hutton moor leisure centre
As a lifeguard my main duties were to watch over the pool to ensure optimum safety and to be 1st on scene to witness and tend to any injuries or situations, as well as cleaning and acting as a general recreational assistant by setting up sports facilities such as badminton courts, football games and swimming Galas. As an extra job to lifeguarding I also worked as a leaflet distributor door-to-door. I have gained a lot of confidence to work under pressure whilst in front of large numbers of people as an individual at times but mainly as part of a team, being able to communicate effectively. Dealing with customer complaints has also been a large improvement in my personal skills. First aid skills were also a large part of this of which I was trained in on a monthly basis.

LEARNING SUPPORT
Full time learning support teacher September 14th 2010 – July 15th 2011
Weston College, Weston-super-Mare
As a Learning Support Teacher my main duties included helping and assisting specific students in the class with learning disabilities or behavioural issues, as well as helping with the class generally if others needed attention. My job required me to keep the workplace calm and efficient for learning, recording attendances on a lecture to lecture basis, assist the teacher in activities, set up and organise sports sessions in the gym and sports hall, as well as giving lectures myself without a teacher present. I also assisted teachers to support the students on expeditions out of the learning environment such as camping trips and hikes. This increased my maturity and confidence to work in a learning environment to teach in front of a whole class and work on a 1-1 or small group basis, as well as time management and punctuality.

FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
Hutton moor Leisure centre
As a qualified CYQ fitness instructor I worked in a gym on a casual basis to help write programmes, give inductions for experienced and beginners at the gym, to give advice and motivate them to continue using the gym facilities. This role also required cleaning of the equipment and keeping the areas clear and safe for customers. This role helped my confidence to approach customers I did not know to make them feel welcome and to ask if they had any questions and make them feel more at ease.

SALES ASSISTANT
As a sales assistant in a small clothing shop I have had experience in working and serving the public in a sales environment, to give advice and general assistance to customers, this role involved stock replenishment, cashier use of the tills, as well as leaflet distribution for promotion of the shop face-to-face to the general public on a regular basis, to interact with the public and explain the business I was promoting. This role has helped me to feel comfortable working under pressure when working alone with many customers at once, to work at an efficient rate but keeping a friendly atmosphere.

BAR STAFF
Hutton moor leisure centre / Nick’s Bar
I have had experience in different types of bars, one quiet working with locals and one being very busy and having to work under pressure, duties included serving Drinks un-attended, keeping bar area clean and tidy, cleaning glasses for use, keeping seating areas clear. The role of this job was also to interact with the public where possible to keep a friendly atmosphere to ensure customers keep returning to the bar. I have also worked using makeshift bars at event nights with a continuous stream of customers, which I feel made myself to work even harder and efficiently under the massive pressure. This job required to have good communication skills with other bar staff members as well as the customers to be able to talk comfortably with customers when appropriate to make them feel comfortable and want to return, only when the situations are calmer and this is appropriate.

VOLENTARY & PAID PROMOTIONS
University of bath
I have helped promote a number of events at the university of bath such as kickboxing fight nights, which involved door to door sales of tickets, leaflet distribution door-to-door and hand outs in public areas, this has helped increase my confidence when approaching the public and being able to sell an event to people and make them interested in a short matter of time. I also currently Promote for one of the biggest clubs in bath with Highlife Promotions Llp (delight at XL) and have been a rep for a number of holidays/trips with the highest number of sign ups due to high confidence and excellent communication skills to approach potential customers, spread awareness through word of mouth and via social networking groups to get as many people involved as possible.
