I am a friendly, enthusiatic and a very hardworking person. I have a passion for costume, for film, tv and theatre, both in the design and construction sense. I am also a keen corsetier, which i make to fit the individual client; a skill i learnt while completing 5 months work experience at a corsetry and bridal shop, I currently wish to set up my own small internet business, creating bespoke corsets for all occasions. I am currently a student at The Arts insitute at Bournemouth, where i study costume for screen and stage. I am going into my second year, and have throughly enjoyed my time spent there so far and i can't wait to continue in September, when i will be a mentor to the first years and a course rep. We study all aspects of designing for theatre, tv and film, and also create our own designs. The periods we study range from the 16th century to modern day, and also many different genres. I've gained experience of short films, by helping on student films, and helped make costumes for a couple of small stage productions. Before going to start my BA Honours, I completed a National Diploma in Art and Design and accomplished a Merit, for my final piece i designed and constructed 2 costumes, and then photographed and filmed them to fit with my project theme of The Wild Swans. With the passion i have for construction, i have experience in making all sorts of things, from soft furnishings, to a 16th century costume, to corsets, ballgowns and even handbags.
A couple of years ago i travelled to Thailand for a month and as part of the trip taught a class of children for a short amount of time but thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. I also work in the retail industry, currently as a supervisor for Claires Accessories, which has helped to develop my managerial skills. Other skills i have gained are those such as office work, i am a quick typer, very organised and i enjoy working to deadlines.
